Steals of the week — August 30, 2026
August 30, 2026
Correction, August 31, 2026: two facts in this edition did not survive the next morning. It ran Ann Taylor at an extra 70% off sale styles; re-read on August 31, that banner was at an extra 50%, so the 70% lasted from August 28 to August 30. It also said Loft published no end date; Loft’s banner in fact read “Ends Mon, August 31”, which we missed. And the Nordstrom Rack piece quoted below at $17.98–$19.18 was no longer on the page. The original text is left exactly as published, below — see the August 31 edition for what is actually running. — Five sales this week, and a correction to last week’s edition before anything else. On August 25 we led with a Nordstrom Rack Clear the Rack event and said it was live. We should not have. Re-reading the clearance page today, the phrase “Clear The Rack” does appear in the page source — but it appears inside a dictionary of every badge the site can display, alongside “Cyber Monday Deal” and “Upgrade to get by Christmas”, neither of which is running in August either. Not one product carried the badge. We had no evidence the event was live and we ran the headline anyway. The clearance itself is real and still deep, so it stays on this page — as a clearance, with a price we actually read. That is the whole rule here: every pick below was opened in a browser this morning, and the discount, the currency and the terms had to be legible on the page in US dollars or the pick did not run. What is new this week comes from Knitwell: Ann Taylor moved to an extra 70% off sale styles on August 28, up from the extra 60% we carried last week, and Loft followed on August 29 with an extra 60% of its own. Everlane still reaches over 70%, and Athleta’s sale holds at 60%. Four sales sat out. Aritzia ran last week on its own sale tiers, but today the only 70% tier we could resolve to a real URL lived in what looks like a staging category tree, so we are not repeating the claim on weaker evidence than we had before. Anthropologie and J.Crew refused to serve us the page at all, J.Jill timed out, and Nordstrom.com returned a shell with no prices in it — so none of those four are here, and we would rather say why than pad the list. Ignore the credit-card banners you will meet on a couple of these pages; those are card sign-up offers, not the markdown. None of these links earn us anything.
This week’s picks
Extra 70% off
Extra 70% off sale styles
Extra 70% off sale styles, stacked on already-reduced prices and applied in the bag with no code to enter. Sale styles are final sale. Ann Taylor publishes no end date on the banner
Our take
This replaced the extra 60% we carried last week — Ann Taylor put it up on August 28, and it is the deepest stack we have seen from them this summer. An extra cut on top of a markdown is a different animal from a percentage off list price, so the only number that means anything is the one in the bag; judge it there, not on the product tile. Final sale is the catch, and it is not a small one: nothing here comes back. Buy the size you already own in the ponte, the blouses and the ankle pants, which is where this brand runs deepest, and skip anything you would need to try on. Also ignore the “30% off your purchase” slide rotating in the same banner — that one is on full-price stock and does not combine with this.
Extra 60% off
Extra 60% off sale styles
Extra 60% off sale styles, applied in the bag with no code. A separate extra 22% off $100+ offer runs alongside it in the same banner. No end date published on either
Our take
Loft went up on August 29, a day after its sister brand, and the two are worth reading together: Ann Taylor is the deeper cut, Loft is the softer, more casual closet, so the choice is about what you actually wear rather than which number is bigger. The extra 22% off $100+ is a second, separate offer — these normally do not stack, so work out which one pays you more before you fill the bag rather than after. The linen and the knit dresses are what clear hardest here.
Up to 90% off
Clearance reaching 90% off
Clearance section, refreshed daily, with individual pieces marked as much as 90% off list. Priced as marked in USD, no code. No end date — this is a standing section, not an event
Our take
Read plainly this week, without the event we claimed last time. The clearance is genuinely deep and we can show our work: an Adornia huggie hoop and pendant set was sitting at $17.98–$19.18 on the page this morning, tagged up to 90% off, with the rail around it running at 82, 80 and 74%. A standing section that gets restocked daily rather than a sale with a clock cuts both ways — nothing is about to expire underneath you, but nothing is about to get cheaper either, so there is no reward for waiting. Filter to 70% or deeper first; below that the tags are ordinary. Sizes are whatever survived the main store, so treat it as a lucky dip and check the size rail before you fall for the picture.
Over 70% off
Womens sale over 70% off
Womens sale carrying a rail labelled over 70% off on Everlane’s own page, priced as marked in USD with no code to enter. No stated end date
Our take
Unchanged from last week, and that is the point worth making about Everlane: this brand does not do flash events, so its sale rail is not a step toward a better number next month — it is the floor. Waiting buys you nothing except a worse size run. What you see on the tag is what you pay, which makes it the least fiddly page on this list, and the value sits in the basics: the tees, the denim, the ballet flats, priced below where they normally bottom out. The 20% and 15% first-order nudges you will see are email sign-up offers on full-price stock, not this.
Up to 60% off
All sale up to 60% off
The full sale section up to 60% off, priced as marked in USD, no code. The “extra 25% off” you will meet is a credit-card sign-up offer, not the markdown
Our take
Priced as marked is what earns it a slot on a page where two of the picks need arithmetic: here the tag is the price, no code to mistype and no bag to check. Most of the section sits nearer 30–40%, so sort by discount if you want the deep end rather than trusting the headline. Athleta clears its own current seasons instead of dumping only leftovers, which is why colours you can still buy at full price turn up in here. One thing to know rather than chase: a separate “30% off select styles” banner has been running since August 25 and is dated to end on August 30, so if you see it and it is gone by the time you check out, that is why — the 60% sale underneath it is the standing one.
