The extra 60% for two sale pieces from Sunday is gone and the extra 50% is back, the fifth edition we have carried it — at Ann Taylor this is simply where the sale rail lives. What is new is 40% off a curated set of fall full-price styles, which started Monday. The panel does not say whether the $50 off jackets, dresses and shoes is per piece or per order, so check the bag before you assume it beats the 40%. Sale styles are final sale.

The extra 40% on sale styles is the part we would use: it comes off prices that are already marked down, which is where this store’s real bargains have been all autumn. The 40% on full price says “select styles”, so check that the piece you want is in it before you count on the number.

It ends Saturday night Pacific time. Clearance is excluded, and has its own deeper offer just below.

Its last weekend, so whatever is left in your size is the stock you will get.

Its banner also still advertises a markdown flash sale, but Talbots’ own terms for it say it ended at midnight on October 8, so we are not printing it — if it is still taking effect in the bag, that is a bonus, not a promise. The 25% reaches full price only, and works in stores.

The first Rack offer we have printed since August, and we hold it to a stricter test than most because of the mistake we made here in August: this is not a name buried in the page’s code, it is the banner rendered across the top of every page, with its own end date. “Full-price” at the Rack means the Rack’s ticket, which is already below the department-store price, so the extra 25% comes off an off-price ticket. Not tested in a cart.

Shallower than Sunday’s 55% plus an extra 15%, and we would not pretend otherwise — but it is still half off almost everything with nothing to type, and this time there is a long weekend on the clock instead of a few hours. Free shipping now needs a $99 bag again.

Vineyard Vines rarely discounts new-season stock, so a dated 30% on autumn knits and quarter-zips is worth knowing about. “Select styles, as marked” means the discount is shown on the product itself, which is the kind we trust most. The promotion covers men’s and kids’ too; the link goes to the whole promo category.

Full price drops back to 25%. Both say “select styles”, and the price is marked on the product, so what you see on the page is what you pay.

We read that as J.Jill settling the sale rail at a lower, steadier level for the rest of October rather than running another short event, so there is no reason to hurry. J.Jill sale is not final sale.

Spanx is better known for shapewear, but its sale rail is mostly the ponte and air-essentials pieces people wear to work, and an extra 30% on top of the markdown makes them unusually cheap. No end date is printed and we did not test the discount in a cart.

That makes it a weaker offer than its headline suggests, and we print it for one reason — Soma’s lounge sets are a pair already, so it fits the way people actually buy them.

We could not find a code for the extra 10% on the page today, so expect it to apply in the bag or not at all. No end date.

The low end is unchanged from last week; what is new is that some pieces now start deeper. Compare against Banana Republic Factory’s own prices, not the mainline store’s.

What replaced it, on Tuesday, covers select styles rather than everything, so it is the narrower offer. New markdowns were added to the sale rail at the same time, which is where we would look first.
