Steals of the week — September 16, 2026

September 16, 2026

This is our first edition in twelve days, which is longer than we want to go, and the gap shows in what has to be cleared away first. Every sale we led with on September 4 has ended or changed. Clear the Rack closed on September 7, exactly as its banner said. J.Jill’s extra 40% ran out the same day and has been replaced by an extra 30%. Boden’s LABOR code went with the holiday, and Athleta’s extra 30% — the Labor Day add-on we flagged as new — is gone, leaving a plain up-to-60% sale section that is not worth a slot on its own. Two things we are deliberately leaving out. Several stores have offers on their last day as we write this — Talbots’ 25% off markdowns, Loft’s 55% off tops and sweaters, Chico’s 30% off its new collection, White House Black Market’s whole banner, and Lane Bryant’s OKWOW code — and a sale that dies before most people read the page is not a pick; where the same store has a longer offer running, that is the one below. And Everlane, which has held a place here for three editions, drops out this week: the storefront we can reach today prices “including duties and VAT”, which is the international site, so we cannot honestly tell you what it costs in US dollars. We would rather lose the pick than guess. What is left is ten sales, every one read today on the store’s own page, including two plus-size stores new to this page. Three end tomorrow night. None of these links earn us anything.

Extra 50% off

Extra 50% off sale

Extra 50% off sale styles, no code required. Ann Taylor’s own offer panel reads “Ends Thursday, September 17, 11:59 PM ET”. Running alongside it through the same deadline: 40% off tops & sweaters, $40 off pants & denim, $50 off dresses & jackets

Our take

The one with a clock on it, so it goes first.

We have watched Ann Taylor’s sale number move three times in a fortnight — 70, then 50, then 60 — and complained, fairly, that it never published an end date to plan against. This time it does: Thursday at 11:59 PM Eastern, printed in the store’s own offer panel, and the banner’s tracking tag is stamped September 14, so this is a three-day event rather than a rolling one. An extra 50% on already-marked sale styles is the deepest cut on this page that needs no code. The companion offer is the more interesting one if you shop this brand for work: $40 off pants and $50 off dresses and jackets are flat amounts, which means they do the most on the cheapest pieces in each category. The “today only” 50% off wear-now styles in the same banner ends in the small hours of Thursday morning, not Thursday night — read the times, not just the dates.

Lane BryantEnds Sep 17

40% off

40% off clothing and sleep

Online only: 40% off in-stock clothing, sleep and swim, as marked with no code. Lane Bryant’s terms read “Valid at lanebryant.com 9/15/2026 - 9/17/2026 (until 11:59 p.m. PT online)”. Excludes early access, clearance and third-party brands. Separately, Early Access 25% off select full-price clothing and accessories, valid 9/15/2026 – 9/20/2026

Our take

New to this page, and the first time we have had a straight 40% off a whole plus-size clothing line in a week of reading.

It is online only and it ends Thursday at 11:59 PM Pacific, which is three hours later than the East Coast deadlines elsewhere on this page. The exclusions matter more than usual here: clearance is out, and so is the new “early access” stock, which has its own 25% off running until Sunday the 20th. So the rule is simple — if a piece has been in the line for a while, it should show 40% off; if it has just landed, it will show 25%, and that 25% outlasts the 40% by three days. The “$40 off $100” code on the homepage banner, OKWOW, ends today, and we are not listing it for that reason.

LoftEnds Sep 17

Up to 40% off

Up to 40% off your full-price purchase

Up to 40% off your full-price purchase, no code needed. Loft’s own offer panel reads “Ends Thurs, September 17”. The separate 55% off tops & sweaters ends Wednesday, September 16

Our take

Loft’s headline this morning was 55% off tops and sweaters, and we are deliberately not leading with it: its own offer panel says it ends today.

What runs one day longer is up to 40% off full-price stock, and that is the more useful one if you are shopping autumn rather than clearing out summer, because it reaches the new arrivals. “Up to” is the phrase to be careful with. It is a tiered offer, so the 40% applies at the top of the scale, and the panel does not print the tiers — the bag will show you what you actually get. Loft and Ann Taylor share an owner and a deadline this week, both Thursday.

J.JillEnds Nov 18

Extra 30% off

Extra 30% off all sale styles

Extra 30% off all sale styles, taken at the time of purchase with no code. J.Jill’s own fine print reads “Offer valid 9/8/26 - 11/18/26 on sale-priced merchandise only”

Our take

Down from the extra 40% we published on September 4, and we would rather say that plainly than let the headline look like news.

What changed in its favour is the runway: J.Jill’s fine print now runs to November 18, two months out, which makes this the one pick on the page you can genuinely take your time over. The sale section held 780 items this morning. The extra 30% comes off at checkout, so the prices on the page are before it: by our arithmetic a relaxed camp shirt marked $59.99 (from $79) lands near $42, linen-stretch pleated pants at $64.99 (from $119) near $45.49, and cotton-stretch flare pants from $39.99 (from $99) near $27.99. We did not put an order through, so treat those as sums on the store’s stated terms rather than a cart we saw. A two-month window also means the section will thin out long before the offer ends; the sizes are the thing that expires here, not the discount.

Nordstrom Rack

Extra 40% off

Extra 40% off select clearance

Extra 40% off select clearance, taken automatically with no code. The clearance page’s banner reads “On now: take an extra 40% off select clearance! Also in stores. ALL SALES FINAL. Restrictions apply.” No end date published

Our take

Clear the Rack is over, and this is what replaced it — a bigger number on a narrower set.

Last edition was an extra 25% across clearance; today it is an extra 40% off select clearance, and the banner itself points at dresses, sandals, shorts and accessories, which is the store clearing out summer. We held this to the same test we set in August: the words on a banner are not enough, the discount has to be rendered on a product. It is. On the page we read, an Aerosoles Dove platform sandal carried the “Includes extra 40% off select items” label at $23.38, down from $38.98 and against a $79 comparable value. We saw the label on fewer tiles than Clear the Rack showed, so expect to hunt: sort by the categories the banner names rather than scrolling the whole 4,500-item section. All sales are final, and there is no published end date, so if something fits, do not wait for a better number.

Boden

30% off selected

30% off selected womenswear with code WKC3

Boden’s own banner reads “30% off selected Womenswear styles with code WKC3”. A separate 15% off new styles uses code RNMV. No end date published

Our take

Boden replaced its Labor Day code with two new ones, and they do different jobs.

WKC3 is 30% off selected womenswear — the menus mark it against dresses and a curated set of clothing, not the whole site — and RNMV is 15% off new styles, which is one of the few offers on this page that reaches autumn stock that has just landed. Thirty per cent on Boden’s dresses is a better number than the 20% we published two weeks ago, but “selected” is doing work in that sentence, so check the product page says the code applies before you fall for a print. Same limit as last time, stated the same way: we read both codes on Boden’s US site this morning and did not test them in a cart, so they are verified to exist, not verified to work on the piece you want. The two codes will almost certainly not combine.

Chico’s

Extra 25% off

Extra 25% off sale styles

Extra 25% off select sale styles, prices as marked with no code. Chico’s terms say “Offer valid for a limited time” with no end date. Separately, $30 off $150 or $50 off $200, “Offer valid 09/15/2026 - 09/20/2026”, discount reflected in the bag

Our take

New to this page.

Chico’s is running several offers at once, and they do not all end together — which is exactly the kind of thing that costs people money. The extra 25% off sale styles is already in the marked prices, needs no code, and carries only “limited time” in its terms. The dollar-off offer, $30 off $150 or $50 off $200, has a real window that runs to Sunday, September 20. The 30% off the new collection on the same banner ends tonight, per its own fine print, which is why it is not the pick. Chico’s terms say dollar-off discounts may be applied after percent-off ones, which reads like the $50 can land on top of marked-down sale prices — but that is our reading of the legal text, not a bag we filled, so check the total before you pay. Chico’s cuts into the travel knits and wide trousers it is known for rather than only summer leftovers, which is why it earns a place alongside J.Jill.

ELOQUII

Extra 60% off

Extra 60% off clearance with code EQMAJOR

ELOQUII’s own banner reads “EXTRA 60% Off Clearance* - code: EQMAJOR”. Also on the banner: $25 & up fall steals with no code, and an extra 10% off orders of $125+. A separate final-sale section is marked up to 85% off. No end date published

Our take

The deepest code on this page, and new to it.

ELOQUII makes fashion-first clothing in sizes 14 to 32, and an extra 60% off its clearance section is the kind of number that usually only turns up at the end of a season. It needs the code, EQMAJOR, at checkout. The same limit we apply to every code applies here: we read it on ELOQUII’s own site today and did not test it in a cart, so it is verified to exist, not verified to work on the piece you want. The separate “final sale up to 85% off” section is a different pile — final sale means no returns, so size with care there. There is no published end date, and clearance in extended sizes goes quickly in the middle sizes first.

Banana Republic Factory

Up to 50% + 20%

Up to 50% off everything plus an extra 20%

Banana Republic Factory’s own banner reads “UP TO 50% OFF EVERYTHING + EXTRA 20% OFF”, “No Code Needed”, “Limited Time Only”, exclusions apply. No end date published

Our take

New to this page.

The factory line is not the mainline Banana Republic — it is made for the outlet channel — but it does the workwear basics well: trousers, knit tops, blazers, the kind of thing Ann Taylor and Loft also sell this week at higher starting prices. Up to 50% off everything with an extra 20% on top, and nothing to type. The catch is the usual one with a stacked “up to”: the 50% is the ceiling, not the floor, and the extra 20% comes off whatever each piece is already marked at, so the depth varies a lot from item to item. The “extra 20% off your first purchase” you will see next to it is a credit-card offer, not this sale. No end date is published, only “limited time”.

Gap Factory

Up to 75% off

Up to 75% off sitewide, plus 20% with ALLYOURS

Gap Factory’s own banner reads “Up to 75% Off Sitewide” and “No GapCash? Extra 20% Off Code ALLYOURS”, not combinable with GapCash, exclusions apply. GapCash can be used through 9/21. No end date published for the sitewide sale

Our take

Two offers, and you pick one path.

If you earned GapCash in an earlier sale, spend it by September 21 — Gap Factory says it combines with the up-to-75% prices. If you did not, the code ALLYOURS takes an extra 20% off instead, and the two do not combine. Gap Factory is the cheapest store on this page by starting price, which is exactly why an “up to 75%” headline tells you little on its own: sort the women’s sale by price and look at what the basics — tees, denim, sweatshirts — actually land at. As with every code here, we read ALLYOURS on the store’s own page today and did not test it in a cart, and the banner does not say whether it reaches items already at the deepest discount.
