Steals of the week — August 18, 2026

August 18, 2026

Everlane moved. We said to wait on it on Thursday and said it again yesterday, and this morning the ceiling broke: 726 of the 1,490 women’s sale pieces are marked 70% off or more, the deepest sit at 80%, and there is now a category in Everlane’s own sale menu called “Over 70% Off” that was not there before. That is why this edition is twice its usual length. Mid-August is when the calendar turns, and it never turns at one brand alone — three of the sales below end tomorrow night, and one ends when today does. Eleven sales, every one of them opened and read this morning. Two of them advertise a promo code, and we put both into a real cart and took them to the checkout: Boden’s took $18 off a $180 top, and Princess Polly’s took nothing off anything, four attempts in. Abercrombie, Madewell, J.Crew and Anthropologie all refused to serve us today, so they are not on this page: we do not carry a price we could not re-check. None of these links earn us anything.

Everlane

Up to 80% off

The wait paid — markdowns now go past 70%

1,490 women’s sale pieces, 726 of them at 70% off or more. The Way-High® Jean $148 → $30; the ’90s Cheeky® Jean $128 → $26; the Way-High® Skinny $88 → $18. No code and no stated end date

Our take

Three checks in five days told you the same thing — 70% and not a point more — so this is the step down we were waiting for, and it is worth being precise about its size. Only a handful of pieces reach the full 80%; the real change is the width, with roughly half the sale now sitting at 70% or deeper and the denim leading it. Everlane discounts in steps and rarely takes two in a month, so this is the one to act on rather than to watch.

J.Jill

Up to an extra 70% off

Extra 70% off all sale styles — today only

Online and catalog only, stacked on already-reduced prices. No code. J.Jill’s own terms read “offer valid August 18, 2026” — one day

Our take

The only genuinely one-day offer we found this week, and it is printed in their own fine print rather than in a countdown widget, which is the version we trust. An extra cut on top of sale prices is a different animal from a percentage off list, so judge it at the cart and not on the product page. If you have been circling a linen piece here, this is the day.

Reformation

50% off

50% off holds — but 800 pieces left the sale in a day

4,131 items this morning, down from 4,945 yesterday, across dresses, tops, sweaters, denim and shoes. No code and no stated end date

Our take

The discount did not move, the inventory did — a little over eight hundred pieces sold through or were pulled in twenty-four hours. That is what the back half of a sale looks like, and it is the argument against waiting for 60%: Reformation almost never goes there, and what disappears first is the middle of the size run. If you saw something on Sunday, check it today rather than on Friday.

Nordstrom Rack

Up to 89% off

Clearance — 4,110 pieces at 70% off or more

7,739 items in clearance today; 4,110 of them marked 70% off or better and 6,477 at 60% or better. No code

Our take

The deepest single number on this page, and unlike a percentage-off event it is the price on the tag, so there is nothing to stack or mistype. The trade is picking through a section this size. Filter to 70% off or more and you have cut it almost in half without giving up anything worth having.

LOFT

Extra 60% off

Extra 60% off sale styles — ends tomorrow

All sale styles, no code needed, ends Wednesday, August 19. A separate 30% off full-price purchase runs to Wednesday, August 26

Our take

An extra 60% on top of a section that is already reduced is the deepest stack of the week on paper. On paper is as far as we can take it: LOFT’s product pages refuse to open for us, so we can tell you what the offer says and when it ends, but not whether the tag already carries the cut — check that in the cart before you commit to the size. The 30% on full price is the more interesting one if you want this autumn’s pieces rather than last summer’s, and it runs a week longer.

Ann Taylor

Extra 60% off

Extra 60% off when you take two — ends tomorrow

Extra 60% off two or more sale styles, 50% off a single one. No code needed. Ends Wednesday, August 19, 11:59 PM ET. Tops and sweaters are 25% off on the same clock

Our take

The tiering is the whole offer: one item is 50% and two are 60% each, so a second piece is cheaper than the first in a way that is designed to be hard to walk away from. Buy the second thing only if you would have bought it at 50% anyway. The sweater discount is the one with real timing behind it — this is the last week before autumn knits stop being discounted at all.

Talbots

Extra 60% off

Extra 60% off end-of-season clearance

End-of-season clearance, stacked on marked prices. A separate Fall Style Event takes 25% off regular-price purchases. No end date published on either banner

Our take

Ann Taylor, LOFT and Talbots all belong to KnitWell Group, which is why the three of them are running the same extra-60% mechanic in the same week — it is one merchandising calendar wearing three logos. The practical read: if you strike out on sizes at one, the others are worth a look on the same day, and none of the three is about to beat the other two by much.

Princess Polly

Up to 85% off

The markdowns are real — the banner code is not

Sale markdowns reach 85% off on dresses: the Shellie Mini and the Anja Mini are both $75 → $11. The site’s banner offers “30% off top sellers with code 30TOP”, which did not apply in any cart we built

Our take

We took the banner at its word and tried the code four times — on a full-price top seller, on two items at $114, on three of the same romper at $195, and finally at the checkout itself, where a $65 romper stayed $65. The markdowns underneath it are the real thing and need no code at all. Sort the sale by discount, ignore the banner, and check the fabric on the $11 dresses before you get excited.

Aritzia

Up to 70% off

Sale — the 60–70% tier survived the weekend

Sale split into tiers, 20–30% through 60–70%. No code and no stated end date

Our take

Fourth check in five days and the deepest tier is still there, which for Aritzia is genuinely unusual — they discount shallowly, briefly, and then stop. Go straight to the 60–70% filter and ignore everything above it; the shallow tiers are close to the standing markdown this brand carries most of the year.

Athleta

30% off

30% off select styles, on top of a 60% sale

30% off select styles, launched today, exclusions apply. The standing sale section runs to 60% off and the two are separate offers. No code

Our take

A new promotion rather than a deeper one — the internal name on their own banner is stamped with today’s date, so it is fresh, and “select styles” at Athleta usually means current-season colours rather than the leftovers. Worth it if you want this season’s leggings; if you only want leggings, the 60% section is the better arithmetic.

Boden

Up to 61% off

Up to 61% off sale, plus a code that actually works

750 women’s sale pieces, the deepest at 61% — the Tilda Jersey T-shirt Dress is $99 → $38.99. Code WXNW takes 10% off new-season womenswear: we ran it to checkout and a $180 top came out at $162

Our take

The quiet one on this page, and the reason it is here: Boden’s prints do not turn up in anyone else’s clearance, so the comparison is against full price rather than against the rest of this list. Ten percent on new arrivals is a nudge and not a deal — take it only if you were buying anyway, and spend the attention on the 60% rail instead.
