Steals of the week — August 17, 2026
August 17, 2026
Four days ago Reformation was 30% off across about 2,900 pieces. This morning it is 50% off across 4,945. Nobody announced it and no code changed hands — the number on the page simply moved, which is how most of the real money in end-of-season shopping is made and lost. It is also the argument for the thing we keep telling you to do: on Thursday we said to wait on Everlane, and Everlane still has not moved, three checks over five days. Sometimes waiting pays the way it just did at Reformation, and sometimes the size you wanted is gone. Below are the five sales we could open and confirm ourselves this morning. Madewell and Princess Polly were in last week’s edition and are not here: both refused us today, and we do not carry a price we could not re-check. None of these links earn us anything.
50% off
Summer sale doubled — now 50% off
4,945 items across dresses, tops, sweaters, denim and shoes. No code and no stated end date
Our take
This is the week’s only real event. In four days the discount went from 30% to 50% and the sale grew by roughly two thousand pieces, which is the shape of a brand clearing summer rather than trimming it. Reformation rarely goes deeper than half off, so treat this as the floor rather than a step on the way down — the linen and the cashmere are where it bites hardest.
Up to 89% off
Clearance — still the deepest cuts anywhere
Clearance section, refreshed daily. No code
Our take
A touch shallower than the 91% we measured on Thursday, which is what the tail end of a clearance cycle looks like: the very best pieces have gone and the ceiling settles. Still the deepest number on this page. The next thing worth waiting for here is a Clear the Rack event over Labor Day weekend, which would put an extra cut on top of these.
Up to 70% off
Sale — the 60–70% tier is still there
Sale sorted into tiers, 20–30% through 60–70%. No code and no stated end date
Our take
Unchanged from Thursday, which for Aritzia is the point — they discount shallowly and briefly, so a deep tier that survives a full weekend is unusual. Go straight to the 60–70% filter. The shallow tiers are the 20% that runs most of the year and are not worth the browse.
Tops from $29.99
Womenswear clearance — shorts and tops near a third of list
Clearance section, no code and no stated end date. High Rise Loose Short $75 → $34.99; Sunday Terry Off-The-Shoulder Top $60 → $29.99; Merino Wool-Blend Sweater Shell $65 → $32.99
Our take
The summer pieces here are the ones being cleared hardest, which is the usual mid-August trade: buy shorts now at a third of list and wear them next May, or skip it. The merino shell is the outlier worth a look — it is the one item in this group you can actually wear in six weeks.
Up to 70% off
Still 70% — and still worth waiting on
The permanent sale section, no code. The end-of-summer markdowns still have not landed
Our take
Third check in five days and the ceiling has not moved off 70% once. We said to wait on Thursday and we are saying it again, with a little more conviction: Everlane’s end-of-summer cut typically lands in the last week or two of August, and Reformation just showed you what that step down looks like when it arrives. The exception stays the same — if your size is the last one on the page, waiting is how you lose it.
